The script is already finished
The 19th Ping is currently in production.
The script is already done, so all that’s left is to hand things over to Jesse and Peter.
The problem is, I’ve completely run out of HeyGen credits.
To give you a little behind-the-scenes context, that’s largely because I did quite a bit of experimenting while making the 18th.
The credits should reset fairly soon, though, so I’m hoping to get it out sometime next month.
Not long ago, I was complaining about running out of Codex credits.
Now it’s these credits instead.
Things never quite go as planned, do they?
What’s the 19th about?
The theme of the 19th Ping is “sleep”.
For the production, I made full use of ChatGPT’s GPT-6 Astra Pro to gather detailed information on sleep from research papers, explanations published by public institutions, statements from academic societies, and similar sources, and had it all compiled into reference material.
I’d read through the research, identify things I still had questions about, ask for more material, read that, find more questions… and repeat.
By the time I was done, I’d ended up with something that felt valuable enough to be a research collection in its own right.
Of course, simply having Jesse and Peter recite all of it wouldn’t make much of a piece of content.
So I picked and chose what to include, deliberately simplified some of the explanations, and shaped it all into a script.
A familiar but fascinating subject
The script only touches on about 10% of what I researched,
and even then, it feels pretty substantial.
I usually write Ping scripts with a running time of around three to five minutes in mind,
but this one feels like it may end up somewhere in the ten-minute range.
It looks like we’re getting a longer video for the first time in a while.
Maybe something like the 4th, 5th, or 13th?
Please bear with me a little longer
So, there’s still no release date yet, but I’d like to get it out sooner rather than later.
I hope the 19th Ping gives you a little more interest in sleep,
and perhaps something you can make use of in your own life.
…There is a certain irony in the fact that I’m cutting into my own sleep to write this article.
