On article-publishing sites and similar platforms, you sometimes see rules along the lines of, “AI-generated or AI-edited writing is not allowed.”
But how realistic is a rule that effectively says, “If AI has been involved at all, it’s prohibited,” these days?
I can still understand “AI-generated text is prohibited”. There’s no human involved in actually writing it.
But once that expands to “AI-edited text is prohibited” as well, don’t we end up with hardly any writing that can clear the bar?
Proofreading is one example. Translation is another.
AI’s sinister little hands are creeping into all sorts of places where you barely even notice them.
Can we really put ourselves in an entirely “AI-free” environment anymore?
