Everyone’s Different
There are plenty of people in this world who are similar to you, but no one who is exactly the same as you in every way.
That said, proving that something “doesn’t exist” is almost impossible.
For example, if a clone of me were to turn up one day… actually, let’s not bring surrealism into science fiction.
Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that everyone has one of those “Is it just me?” things, right?
In My Case
If you asked me what mine is, I’d probably say “a hair growing out of my face”.
Around my right cheekbone. A long, pure-white hair that somehow grows there without me noticing.
This hair seems to possess exceptionally high stealth capabilities, because by the time I notice it, it’s somehow about eight centimetres long.
It stays hidden so well, you could tell me it was a certain virus in a previous life and I wouldn’t be surprised.
Its resistance to blades is also remarkably high. An electric shaver is no use, and neither is a five-blade razor.
They don’t stand a chance. It simply continues to exist there, completely unfazed.
It’s Just Annoying
If it were useful for something, that would be one thing… but in a word, it’s “annoying”.
Yes. Just “annoying”. Nothing more, nothing less.
If I think, “There’s something weird at the edge of my vision”, it’s this thing’s fault.
If I think, “Why is it suddenly hard to focus?”, it’s this thing’s fault.
If I think, “Why does it feel ticklish around my eye?”, it’s this thing’s fault.
If anyone can think of a way to monetise it, please let me know.
