We’d Always Planned This
ShortWave.STUDIO is a multimedia project.
We started out with radio-style “Fake-Real” videos, but making and releasing music had actually been part of the plan from the beginning.
There’s even an item in the FAQ that more or less says so, right?
But, well, creating things takes time.
Video production is probably one of the best examples. Who knows how many hours went into making videos that were only a few minutes long?
And music isn’t exactly something you can just whip up in no time, either.
Of course, some people can. But those people probably are—or ought to be—working professionally.
As a Sound Archive and Record Library
When we decided to get this music project started, we settled on a concept: “Phonotheca”.
Rather than having ShortWave.STUDIO function simply as a record label, we wanted it to be something more comprehensive and transparent—a sandbox.
And what came out of that was our first release: an EP called Phonotheca.
It’s scheduled to be released across various services on 1 September 2026.

So, What Kind of Record Is It…?
Phonotheca contains five tracks.
Two of them are vocal tracks. I’m singing in English.
The other three are instrumentals, built mainly around synth sounds.
Well, I played everything and mixed everything myself, too.
And despite this being ShortWave.STUDIO, there’s absolutely no AI involved. Yep.
You might start to see it if you follow the track titles, but each piece has a little story of its own.
We haven’t explicitly said what those stories are, though.
So I’d be happy if you imagined them for yourself and enjoyed whatever you find there.
